Economic Valuation

Legal Services, Mexico

Oxford Competition Economics was required to provide an estimation of the economic value for society derived from the legal certainty that the notarial activity provides in Mexico. The methodological approach implied the selection of two of the most demanded legal services associated with the notarial activity in the country, as well as the collection of original data from the application of online and offline surveys to users of these services in Mexico City.

The survey provided relevant economic data regarding the willingness to pay of users for obtaining legal certainty as a consequence of using the services provided by the notarial activity. The core findings allowed us to identify statistically significant effects regarding the economic value that users assign to the legal certainty in property and wealth transfers stemming from the use of services associated with the notarial activity.
